I did this piece in the great Jerry Pinkney's illustration class at the University of New York at Buffalo in 1991. I was studying illustration, when I started singing in a little acoustic duo called The Strangers- we sang gypsy duets from the Yucatan Peninsula in Spanish.

For the illustration assignment, I drew myself singing Fondo Azul- one of our best songs. It means: `` Blue Bottom". It fit my mood perfectly.
